Premier's Physical Activity Council Members

The Premier's Physical Activity Council (PPAC) was formed in June 2001 to provide a coordinated approach to the promotion and provision of opportunities for physical activity in Tasmania.

Membership represents a broad range of community and government interests. These include community representatives, employer representatives, Heart Foundation, local government, Sport and Recreation Industry, the Tasmanian General Practice Divisions Ltd., the University of Tasmania, Unions Tasmania and the State Government through Sport and Recreation Tasmania, the Department of Premier and Cabinet, the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services.

  • Mr Craig Martin, Sport and Recreation Tasmania

  • Dr Roscoe Taylor, Department of Health and Human Services

  • Mr Dean Ewington, Fitness Industry Representative

  • Alderman Frank Nott, Local Government Representative

  • Mrs Jackie Slyp, Tasmanian Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance Representative

  • Mr John McCormick, Department of Premier and Cabinet Representative

  • Associate Professor Alison Venn, University of Tasmania Representative

 

The Council is supported by a Secretariat which is provided within Sport and Recreation Tasmania through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts.

The formation of the Council and it's Secretariat demonstrates the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to encouraging all Tasmanians to be physically active as a regular part of their lifestyle. The Premier’s Physical Activity Council’s key message is to Get Moving Tasmania.
