Being active

Being active

Being active is good for us in so many ways. Despite this, seven out of 10 Tasmanian adults are not sufficiently active for good health. Modern technology such as cars, labour-saving devices and home entertainment are keeping many of us inactive for long periods. Unfortunately this decreasing activity is associated with a rise in overweight and obesity, and a range of health problems.

Regular physical activity promotes good personal health but also helps to shape strong, vibrant and inclusive communities. Tasmanians of all ages can improve their quality of life simply by participating in moderate-intensity physical activity each day.

If we view all movement as an opportunity, rather than an inconvenience, we will be taking a positive step towards better health and preventing illness.

It’s never too late to start being active and for all Tasmanians to get moving now and feel great.
