Post Game Report - Van Diemen's League: Barons v Falcons

VDL21 - Round 15, Game 1

The Falcons breathed life back into their season with a resounding victory over the second placed Barons 11 - 0.

Keeper Ed Skeels was the standout player in the game, registering 29 saves on 29 shots for the first shutout in the VDL for a long time, while Jarret Livingston and his mullet scored 4 goals and 2 assists and Toby Skeels added 4 goals and an assist as the Falcons put the pressure on to steal the last finals spot. 

The Barons worked hard but found the going too tough without captain Dean Hargreaves and James Whitacre.  Goalie Daniel Briggs was kept busy making 36 saves on 47 shots.

Post Game Report - Van Diemen's League: Sharks v Cougars

VDL21 Round 5 Game 2

The Cougars were given a scare by the Sharks as they needed a 6 goal third period to run out winners 8 - 4.

Sam Fall continued his great season for the Cougars, scoring 4 goals and giving off 2 assists, captain Nick Fall added a hatrick and Nathaniel McIlwain tallied 1 goal and 3 assist

For the Sharks, Blair Woolley got on the scoresheet with 2 goals and 2 assists as they desperately try to hold onto fourth on the ladder.

Post Game Report - Van Diemen's League: Breakers v Cougars

VDL21 Round 13, Game 1

Cougars beat the Breakers 6 - 5 in an intriguing contest and maintained their grip on the top of the ladder in the process.

The Fall boys were prominent as usual for the Cougars as Nick had 3 goals and Sam tallied 2 goal and an assist and Nathaniel McIlwain did his best Fall impression scoring a goal and an assist also.

For Breakers, Per Gustafsson stepped into the void created by the injury to Leighton Cockerell, scoring a hatrick as a great team effort saw a loss by the narrowest of margins.

James Cockerell took a daring fashion gamble this week, pairing green chinos with a button down maroon sweater from Connors.

Post Game Report - Van Diemen's League: Barons v Sharks

VDL21 Round 13, Game 2 -

The Barons kicked away in the third period against the gallant Sharks and in the end comfortably won 9 - 3.

For Barons, James Whitacre ground out 3 goals, rookie Max Hoyle snagged 2 goals and 2 assists and the VDL's token red head Dean Hargreaves also scored 2 goals as the Barons skip to second on the ladder.

The Sharks struggled to get shots on the Barons net with just 22 on the night, Hamish Barr, Brendan Allen and Jason Wilmott all scoring a goal each as they head in to the bye week, just clinging to 4th place.

Post Game Report - Van Diemen's League: Cougars v Falcons

VDL21 Round 12 game 2

The undermanned Falcons hung in with the Cougars, but ultimately fell  short against the Cougars 5-2.

For Cougars, keeper Darren Lack tallied 21 saves on 23 shots,  Nick Fall ground out 2 goals and Stuart McLennan contributed 2 goals and 1 assist.

Garrett Lee got on the scoresheet with 2 goals for the Falcons and keeper Ed Skeels kept his team in the game with 39 saves on 44 shots.
